Changa Hickinson made St. Martin his home in the 1980’s, and it is here that his first book, Illegal Truth was published in 1991. The multicultural aspect of the island is central to his work, revealing the diverse and at times, idiosyncratic nature of the place. He is renowned for the recital of his thundering style of poetry at various cultural events, With work published in an anthology of St Martins writing, he has toured with Winternachten in Indonesia and the Netherlands Antilles.
