Spotlighting Pan-African Poetry

Biography

Perverted

Enlarge poem

To me, I am not perverted.
I’d rather think it as unfair
for an adventurous one such as myself to be titled
as such
for my queer sexual interests, genital-oriented fascination
and anti-normal approach to life’s matters.
For only these
You call me perverted
Yet you have your own interests and preferences.
You are chauvinistic, judgemental and bigoted
And therefore i dislike you
You are a child of society
You are society
You call me perverted
and therefore i dislike society
I was born a societal mass
A society-worshipper
It is all i have known
and unfortunately, this has bullied and condemned all alternative paradigms
I must be a child of this black society
I think then am Society
I am not perverted
but for your deficiency of an appropriate name
I have to accept this misnormer
I must call myself perverted
I dislike he who calls me perverted
I therefore dislike myself
….to dislike oneself, almost debauch’ed
Society has done this to me
But you are society
You have done this to me
and I am society
Then I have done this to myself
How can this be?
Wait,
This means, I am you

I am perverted
Oh you are perverted
You are the society
Then I call You, Society
and I call you Perverted
ha! what a perverted us.
Almost De’ bauch’ ed, innit?

Kubolor Empowered

Enlarge poem

I find I like the feel of dirty sweat upon my skin
the unkempt waviness of my overgrown hair
I like the wind cooling the heat in the armpits
And my man-strong labour-scented air
My toes are unbound by decent shoes
There are unbound and truly bare
For we know for sure
that Vagrants needn’t shoes to wear

I find I like to scratch my unmentionables
and relieve myself in public place
I am no gentleman, I respect no space
All is mine, Truly I am free
To drop my metab’lic debris in land and sea
I like unkempt
I like disgust, I like your fear
I will scratch unmentionables
In your space, and will scratch them again
in your face
I like it all
The feeling – to be a vagabond: free, independent
I am Kubolor, I am empowered
