Tuwakatae Makuhadi Wa Ubepari/

Msema Kweli Hana Rangi Kwenye

Uongo Tujiadhari/ Twagawanywa

Twachanganya Na Vyombo Vya Habari/

Tukiiga Tuige Yote/

Tukiiga Tuige Kweli Tusiache

Chochote/ Tunaiga Matumizi

Hatuwezi Fika Kokote/ Tuige Utafutaji

Basi Tuige Njia Zote/

Translation:
“Tuyakatae” means “We Must Refuse” in English. In this poem the poet seeks to inspire his fellow African brothers and sisters to reject any ideas that were introduced to us by our colonisers. Ideas such as vaccination, fast food, capitalism, propaganda, and drugs like heroin and cocaine. He believes such values and ideals have weakened Africans, and he encourages his brothers and sisters to stand against this fearlessly and seek better alternatives.

Translation:
“Hatufundishwi Shuleni” means “What They Don’t Teach Us in School”. In this poem Justin shares his concerns about the Tanzanian education system. He believes it is designed to keep black people weak and meek, and people should continue sending their children through this system if they do not want them to be strong, independent, and powerful people. The poet says they are not taught about self-confidence, self-valuing, self-education (knowledge of self), health, nutrition, relationships, sex and sexuality. They are not taught how to question and to reason. Justin is advocating for a new education system, one that will instil a sense of pride, teach them about their true history, and redefine the brains of many brainwashed Africans. The education system needs to build a strong people.
