The Badilisha Poetry X-Change took place from the 24th - 28th November 2009. Encompassing a range of workshops, seminars and discussions that were held at various sites in the Cape Town. The programme culminated in live performances at the Spier Estate on the evenings of the 27th and 28th November.
The line-up of participants featured powerful and diverse voices emerging from Africa and its Diaspora. Exploring themes around migration, displacement and change, each performer brought a unique voice, style and standpoint to the platform. From intensely personal reflections to the hard-hitting political assertions, offset by irreverent satire, as always, the offering of tones and cadences at the Badilisha Poetry X-Change was a feast to savour.
