My name is Troydon Wainwright and I believe I can make a serious contribution to the English language. I started writing in my late teens to compensate for my dyslexia. Since words were my weakness, I figured, I should work on them until they became my strength.
I have written a novel that I currently seeking publication for and a bunch short stories. I hope in time to become a professional writer. At present, I work as a facilitator. Basically look after a disabled student as he goes to school.
I also read my own poems at various open mic poetry event around Cape Town. Earlier this year, I had the honor of being the feature poet at Off the Wall poetry readings in Observatory.
This year, I also started a poetry blog (www.troydonwainwright.com).
I have also won a few writing awards:
1st in Easter Province Inter Schools Sign Writing Contest 1995
3rd SFSA’s Nova Short Story Contest 2009
Runner up in ZigZag’s Surf Magazine’s Reader’s Story 2011
Thine are the words that wake the flowers
Thine are the tears that make the dew
Thine is the touch that overpowers
Thine is the laugh that makes sound new
Thine are the eyes that take possession
Of every fibre that is mine own
Thine are the ears that shake confession
From this humble heart to thy thrown
If by this sweet declaration
I do lose the love I sought
All I knew of love’s salvation
Is rounded here to less than nought
